Video - The Programming of Life

The discovery of DNA was a pivotal point in our knowledge of what life is. The idea of a simple cell with its simple biochemical processes suddenly lost its conviction, and it wasn’t long before the complex, information driven, city-like array of interdependent systems all working in harmony together became the dominate model. The molecular machines of sci-fi movies like mini repair and healing robots, robotic walker delivery systems, and even circuitry constructors were no longer things we needed to manufacture and put into our bodies, they were there all along.

One obvious question is where did it all come from. And the possible answers come in two forms. Either something made it all, or it arose on its own by chance.

To answer that question definitively, we’d have to be there when it all happened. Although that doesn’t stop us from making educated guesses using probabilities. But in order to make an educated guess, we need to know the factors that factor. A starting point, any sequential milestones or event pathway requirements natural laws require, and an ending point are all required.

It’s a daunting task to figure all that out. One that’s taken decades of devotion to research to even form a rough idea about. But a rough idea is better than nothing. This video scratches the surface of what’s involved, and even though there is a ton we still need to learn, there is enough to definitively say life did not arise by chance. Enjoy.
